INTEGRATIVE APPROACH: CROSS-METHOD & HOLISTIC
The integrative approach combines elements from various schools, techniques, and therapeutic methods to form a comprehensive and individualized treatment process. It is primarily guided by the specific needs, goals, and concerns of each client.
Depending on the nature of the issue, condition, or intention, different approaches may be appropriate. Our work integrates systemic, depth-psychological, and hypnotherapeutic methods, as well as mindfulness-based and body-oriented practices.
The human being is seen as a whole—embracing all aspects of existence: psyche, body, mind, emotions, and relationships.
SYSTEMIC PERSPECTIVE
Human experience and behavior cannot be understood in isolation—they always unfold within a social context, in interaction with others. That’s why relationships and the dynamics within interpersonal systems are a central foundation for therapy in addressing emotional distress and conflict. Only within this relational framework an individual can be fully understood. Therefore, in the therapeutic process we work to develop awareness of others’ perspectives, as well as recognize recurring patterns in communication and relationship dynamics.
The therapeutic approach is primarily resource-oriented, meaning the focus lies not on deficits or pathology, but on the client's personal strengths and abilities. The therapeutic stance is future- and solution-focused, emphasizing the search for new perspectives, alternative options for actions, and development of change. Step by step, problem-maintaining, self-defeating patterns and negative thought loops are explored and gently transformed. The underlying principle is that even small changes can initiate larger shifts. Even when we cannot change external (and sometimes difficult) circumstances, we always have the possibility to shape our inner relationship to these experiences—and with that, transform the way we feel and relate to the world around us.
Also, working with the “inner system” – the different inner parts or aspects that make up our psyche – can support the resolution of internal conflicts and help restore a healthy balance between these parts. Connecting with our inner ongoings fosters self-compassion and strengthens our ability to navigate difficult emotions. It also allows us to recognize and begin to heal emotional wounds.
ELEMENTS OF DEPTH-PSYCHOLOGY
For certain concerns, it can be important to explore the unconscious psychodynamic processes underlying present-day conflicts. Early attachment and relationship experiences often shape how we perceive and respond to situations in the present. Recognizing these patterns can open up space for change—allowing for the development of new, more helpful and constructive ways of relating and behaving.
In the therapeutic process, the "triangle of insight"—connecting past experiences, present patterns, and the therapeutic relationship—is always approached from the perspective of the here and now.
HYPNOTHERAPY
Hypnotherapy is an evidence-based method that uses targeted trance states to access internal, unconscious processes. It helps uncover and resolve deep-seated patterns of behavior, fears, or emotional blockages that are no longer accessible through conscious willpower. In a relaxed, focused state, inner resources can be activated and positive changes in thinking and behavior initiated. In this way, hypnotherapy supports both emotional and physical stabilization and stimulates the body’s natural self-healing capacities.
In therapeutic work with inner imagery, we make use of the mind’s ability to generate emotions—pleasant or unpleasant—through imagination alone. Neuroscientific research has shown that mental imagery activates the same brain regions as the corresponding real-life experiences. Since inner images shape our attitudes and behaviors, they can be a powerful tool for initiating desired change.
Hypnotherapy is particularly effective in treating stress, anxiety, trauma, and psychosomatic symptoms.
MINDFULNESS-BASED ELEMENTS
The practice of mindfulness helps direct attention toward inner processes in a non-judgmental and accepting way. This fosters calm, reduces stress, and supports health, emotional balance, and psychological well-being. By turning gently toward the present moment with openness and acceptance, we develop a deeper understanding of ourselves. Mindfulness allows us to observe how the mind works, recognize habitual reactions, and interrupt unhelpful patterns. In doing so, it opens the door to broader perspectives and often meaningful, creative new ways of responding.
Numerous scientific studies confirm the positive effects of mindfulness on both mental and physical well-being.
BODY-ORIENTED WORK
As a complementary element, counseling or therapy can also include stabilizing, supportive, and experiential body-based practices. Alongside various physical relaxation techniques, concentration exercises as well as meditative practices drawn from Yoga and Zen have proven to be highly beneficial.
In our integrative approach, we view the body and the psyche as two deeply interconnected systems. Emotional experiences, trauma, and psychological stress are stored in the body and can be released through targeted somatic work. Unprocessed experiences often leave traces in the nervous system, the musculature, and even cellular memory. Through specific breathing techniques, gentle movement, and mindful awareness, we can learn to communicate with the nervous system in a way that supports its ability to regulate and integrate stress and trauma. This fosters greater resilience and a deeper sense of inner balance.
PLANT-BASED MEDICINE
Clinical studies show promising results regarding the therapeutic use of natural, plant-based medicines—such as those derived from certain mushrooms—for deep self-exploration and personal growth. These approaches can also offer lasting support in working through deeply rooted issues such as past trauma, limiting beliefs, or dysfunctional emotional and behavioral patterns.
In our retreats, such processes are embedded within a comprehensive framework of physical, psychological, and mental preparation. Plant-based healing methods are thoughtfully combined with bodywork, mindfulness practices, and conventional therapeutic approaches to support a safe and transformative experience.
Integration is a key part of the process. The insights and experiences gained are carefully reflected upon and processed in follow-up sessions, so they can be meaningfully anchored in everyday life.
